The Rawson Project Choreographer Residency

The New Ballet School, in partnership with The Rawson Project Contemporary Ballet, is pleased to announce an ongoing opportunity for new and emerging choreographers. All interested choreographers are invited to apply to work with dancers from The New Ballet School’s Studio Company at the school’s fully equipped Downtown San Jose studios, for a minimum of 5 hours, Monday-Thursday afternoons.  One to three week residencies are available now through May 2017, dates TBD. A video tape of the work will be recorded on the last session for archival and promotional purposes, and footage will be provided to the choreographer. A $500 honorarium will be paid to each selected choreographer. Rehearsals will take place at the The New Ballet School studios. 

Interested applicants should email a work sample video of approximately 5 minutes of choreography, as well as a project description of the work they would like to focus on throughout the time of the residency. Project descriptions should include number of dancers (between 1-4; if a preference is applicable please state how many men and how many women, (up to 2 men) whether or not women will wear pointe shoes, and an indication of the style, intent, or focus of the choreography. No more than 600 words please.
